In celebration of the 55th
anniversary, the Mindanao State University (MSU)-Marawi City and the Department
of Trade and Industry (DTI) collaborated for the first time to conduct a
one-of-a-kind Trade Bazaar and Exhibit held at Peace Plaza last August 30 to
September 3, 2016.
Different colleges participated the trade
fair such as College of Hotel and Restaurant Management, College of Fisheries,
College of Agriculture and College of Business Administration and Accountancy
as being the host with the chairmanship of the college dean Prof. Imara Andam.
There were local enterprises from Lanao del Sur namely; Ganasi Pangao A-Lupa
Farm Marketing Cooperative, Dayawan, Rantian Farmers Cooperative, Special
Tapay, MSU T-shirts, Mamaanun Community Enterprises and Technology and Development
Center.
There were also organizations joined and willingly displayed their
masterpieces such as the OKIR, 1DC Warriors and Mindanao Youth for Development
Program. Most especially, with the full support of the DTI-MSU Secretariat.
During the program, students were able to
showcase their talents like the entertaining intermission number of the
practicumers of the Entrep 197 who were also the investors of the CBAA Canteen,
Food Cart and MadeInMSU Social Enterprise. The amazing voice of Ms. Isabelle
and the screaming performance of the MSU Street Mix.
MSU-DTI Trade Bazaar and Exhibit was purposely
to promote different ideas, different businesses with different managerial and
entrepreneurial skills. Through this occasion, it enhances the minds not only
the existing businesses but also to the aspiring business innovators to develop
and implement generated ideas into reality. It also served as a way to uplift
the ability of local enterprises and the students to establish entrepreneurship
nationally and internationally.
“Through this event, we will have the
chance to advance our programs in terms of development in business education
and in seeking opportunities ahead of us,” stressed Pres. Habib W. Macaayong, president
of MSU-Systems, during his speech.
The highlight on the first day was the
ceremony of cutting the ribbon which was also to officially open the said
event. Pres. Macaayong cut the ribbon together with different deans of the
colleges and DTI coordinators.
